Meet your Hosts

we'll leave the light on for 'ya

My husband and I enjoy traveling and applied for our daughter’s passport long before she could utter a sound. We always are on the move it seems, not always by choice, but often by circumstance. We talked about a vacation property for years, never having the courage to take the leap. This condo felt right, like a place we want to come back to as our life journey continues.

We have stayed in all types of places through the years, my husband still reminds me of the room, no bigger than a closet, I booked for us on the Gulf Coast. In my defense, it was a bed and breakfast and they had a great cocktail hour and most hotels were booked solid…perhaps, the man was exaggerating when he gave me the warning about the small size of the room (he wasn’t). I thought the cocktail hour and Florabama would erase my husband’s claustrophobia. We once had a crazy night in Tijuana (I think that goes with the territory). The all you can drink for $5 caught up with us and we stayed at a seedy motel, lucky for us the night had caught up with us and we busted a move to vacate once the sunrise hit the reality of the dump. We first stayed at a in New Orleans in the early 2000’s, loving the modern furnishings and chic feel, instantly transforming us into cool people. A backwater resort in Southern India showcased a meandering pool that wound like a snake through the property so each casita opened onto the pool, complete with sunrise yoga classes and ayurvedic massages.  The Raphael Hotel by the Plaza, our base for a friend’s wedding in Kansas City, had a mini orchestra playing outside the lobby in the evenings. I wouldn’t trade any of these experiences, they are wound into the fabric of our story.

Wedding we watched recently from the Surfside Pier. Everyone stood frozen on the pier watching the entire ceremony and all the kids waiting for the kiss.

We really hope you will find a stay in our little condo enjoyable. We want you to have a fun, safe and relaxing vacation. Life, at least for us, can feel all too hectic and 60 to 70  hour work weeks take a toll. Vacation is a time for us to reconnect as a family and recharge. My husband always leaves a vacation with new resolutions of things he will change once we arrive home.

The beach for me is home, it moves me and I feel like I can do anything. I can spend hours in the ocean swimming, body surfing; I feel 10 again and no one is there to tell me otherwise.

So whatever you are yearning for on your next vacation, to recharge, feel younger, or create another chapter in your life memories, may you find it.

All the best,

Sally

P.S. pictured with me is Bill, our dog of almost 15 years. Bill loved the beach, sunning in the warmth of the day and air sniffing, other than his bed, it was his favorite place on earth. I will always remember his smile when we arrived at the beach, pure contentment. I like to think of Bill’s spirit, on a beach basking in the light, mouth ajar, happy.
